What Information We Collect and How We Use That Information
Our registration forms require supporters to give us contact information that may include name, email address, format preference (HTML vs. Text), address, interests, and similar information. If a client wants to make an online donation, they are required to provide a credit card number, which is shared with and verified by VeriSign (see below). We use supporter information from the website and email communications (such as registration forms, interest category collected, etc.) to send requested and relevant information. The Website does not collect personally identifying information about users except when supporters specifically and knowingly provide it.

Email
California NOW maintains several opt-in e-mail lists. All of our e-mail communications are done in compliance with all applicable laws, including CAN-SPAM. Each e-mail contains a link to allow the recipient to unsubscribe from our e-mail list. CA NOW has also partnered with Papilia for some electronic communications with our members and supporters. Communications with Members
Members of CA NOW may receive occasional e-mail, U.S. postal mail, or telephone communications from CA NOW, National NOW, or local NOW chapters. These communications may include, but are not limited to, e-mail newsletters and action alerts, chapter mailings, the annual Call to Conference newsletter, telephone solicitations, the National NOW Times, and annual membership renewal notices. Members are considered to automatically opt-in to communications from all levels of NOW by providing their contact information on the membership form and renewal forms. Any member may choose to opt-out of further communications by contacting CA NOW and National NOW to request removal.

Store
All information gathered from our online store is used solely for the processing of store orders, and for no other purpose. Credit card information gathered through the store is shared with and verified by VeriSign to ensure accurate processing. VeriSign is the leading secure sockets layer (SSL) Certificate Authority enabling secure e-commerce and communications for Web sites, intranets, and extranets. The VeriSign mark is high assurance for Internet security and enables the strongest SSL encryption available to every site visitor.  We also protect account information by placing it on a secure portion of the website (https) that is only accessible by certain qualified employees of CA NOW. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.

Surveys
We may conduct occasional online surveys via our website or via an email newsletter. These surveys are entirely voluntary and supporters may easily decline to participate. Participating in an online survey does not automatically add a name to the subscriber list for any mailings.

Use of "Cookies"
Some areas of our website may use "cookies," pieces of information that are used for record-keeping purposes at many websites, as well as logging session information. If you would prefer not to receive cookies, you can set your browser to refuse them, but this may affect your experience of our website.

Other Web Sites
Our website contains links to other websites. Please note that upon clicking one of these links, the supporter is entering another website for which CA NOW has no responsibility.

Share With Friends
If you use our referral service for informing a friend about the website or our programs, we ask you for the friend's name and email address. This information is used to generate a one-time invitation e-mail. We do not keep the friend’s information except if the friend registers and/or donates.

Sharing of Lists
CA NOW does not rent or sell our lists of members, donors, activists, or supporters. However, we do occasionally share our lists with other allied organizations for use on specific issues campaigns. National NOW also engages in list sharing with other progressive organizations.
